Housing

Housing Aylesbury Vale can pride itself on a variety of housing from timbered dwellings that hark back to historical times to uniquely designed modern dwellings. There are approximately 66,000 homes in Aylesbury Vale with Government targets calling for an additional 18,300 by 2021.

Already the area has seen some major new developments close to the town of Aylesbury. Fairford Leys provides a range of housing for sale and rent, a purpose built village centre complete with church, shops and restaurants, a sports centre and meeting facilities. Its acclaimed design has been said to echo the Prince of Wales’ Poundbury village in Dorset.

HousingOn the north east of the town stands Watermead. This unique development off the A418 Buckingham Road is built around an attractive lake and surrounded by a wildlife area. Housing consists of studio flats and spacious lakeside homes all built in a variety of styles, while the central piazza includes shops, services, a pub and restaurant.

Berryfields and Weedon Hill are two major development areas which will provide new homes over the next decade. These will be for sale and rent and are being designed to reflect local architectural traditions and take into consideration concerns about conservation, particularly natural wildlife and sites of ancient monuments. Incorporated within the overall development plan is a traffic hierarchy which will integrate road and rail extensions whilst protecting the interests of pedestrians.
