A key element in the vision for an integrated transport infrastructure underpinning the future growth of Aylesbury Vale - railway works for the planned new Parkway Station in Berrylands will commence in early autumn 2007, supported by Community Infrastructure Funding (CIF) of £8.17m
The new station will soon allow the extension of Chiltern Railway services providing travel choice for residents to the north west of Aylesbury with direct access to London Marylebone. Work on the new station itself will follow once housing occupancy in the Berryfields Major Development Area reaches 40%, likely to be by 2010.
The new station, with parking for 500 vehicles and ‘park & ride’ links will be just one element in a new public transport interchange scheme, incorporating a transport hub, new bus station, improved pedestrian and cycle access and road improvements – all measures designed to link and integrate car, bus and rail traffic, providing Aylesbury with a transport system that will support current and future growth and redevelopment.
