Major Projects
Aylesbury Vale is now witnessing an ambitious and structured programme of growth and development,visibly confirmed through a raft of current and planned major projects which include:
- Waterside - a flag ship project that is in the process of transforming Aylesbury’s town centre, led by the construction of a superb new Theatre and entertainment complex, just part of a 10 acre site alongside the canal featuring retail,food, residential and public environments.
- Aylesbury College - a stunning new main building, the first step in a major redevelopment of the main Oxford Road campus.
- Berryfields - two major development areas combining a balanced housing mix with improved transport links and comprehensive facilities, all located within pleasant and sustainable environments.
- Stoke Mandeville Hospital - a dramatic programme of new build and structural improvements to this world renowned medical establishement.
All new developments within Aylesbury’s town centre will be guided by the ‘Vision Framework’- the result of extensive consultation that provides a set of guiding principles and key components to help create a progressive, cohesive and well designed heart to the town.
Beyond the current phase of major projects,extensive grant funding has been sourced from Central Government through Community & Local Government (CLG) to support a number of major infrastructure and development projects aimed at improving transport and access, enhancing the townscape, generating economic growth and improving the environment:
- Aylesbury Public Transport Hub - a comprehnsive scheme that will ease access, flow and links for buses and pedestrians and improving the bus station.
- Southcourt Bridge - the creation of a striking new £3.8m footbridge to provide links from the learning zone to the station, transport hub and town centre, forming a promiment landmark.
- Aylesbury Vale Parkway - funding of £8.17m will fund improvements to track and signalling supporting the construction of a new ‘Parkway Station’ extending the commuter catchment area north of Aylesbury to London Marylebone.
- Circus Fields - part of the Waterside development funding of £4m will support the relocation of the boating servicing and repair site on the east of the town centre and allow 150 homes to be created alongside an unique canal side environment.
- ‘Greening the Vale’ - an ambitious £1.8m initiative that will see improvements and extensions to public parks, open spaces and the urban environment, further supported through a proactive programme of tree and bulb planting.
- Aston Clinton Road - funding of £6m will enable the development of 26 hectares on the eastern outskirts of Aylesbury to form a major employment area mixed with residential dwelling and cycle path links.
