Aylesbury College

Aylesbury CollegeAylesbury College, situated close to Aylesbury town centre, is an important centre for vocational training and academic progression offering a wide range of part-time, full-time and flexible programmes.
The college is currently in the midst of a process of development and expansion. Its vision ‘Building Better Futures’ brings a commitment to developing skills and maintaining engagement with both students of all ages and the local business community. Stakeholder partnerships are being formed to create a culture of lifelong learning in the wider community; including the provision of foundation degrees. This vision and values reflect the changing socio – economic footprint of Aylesbury and the Vale.

To support this expansion new ‘cutting edge’ facilities and resources are starting to be realised with the recent opening of a new college building at the main Oxford Road campus (phase 1). This architecturally impressive and iconic building houses a learning resource centre, reception, cafe, a silver service restaurant and meeting (conference) rooms. These facilities serve all of the local community; including local businesses. Phase 2, due to be completed in autumn 2007, will provide a new ‘construction, engineering and horticulture/floristry’ centre. Other development phases will follow.

Working with Business

An important element in Aylesbury College’s vision is to engage with business to maintain a critical understanding of demands, pressures and changes in business both locally and regionally to support Aylesbury’s current and future regeneration. The emphasis here is on offering courses tailored to up-skilling and developing the workforce and training options and schemes such as ‘Apprenticeships’. ‘Train to Gain’ are offered along with a wide range of part-time vocational programmes.

University Centre for Aylesbury Vale

The college is also an active participant in the University Centre for Aylesbury Vale (UCAV). UCAV is a collaborative initiative bringing together universities and training providers to deliver a range of university level courses, professional qualifications and vocational studies in Aylesbury.
