The Circus Fields project is an important initiative to be developed on the eastern outskirts of Aylesbury and will provide modern facilities in the form of a new canal basin, with a’ turning head’ and moorings for canal boats.
The project will also include approximately 150 residential homes, some of which will wrap around the new canal basin. Funding of just over £4m for this project has been secured through Growth Area Funds. Design briefs are currently being worked up for the scheme.
The Circus Fields project will be linked to the Waterside redevelopment by an improved towpath giving easy access to the Town Centre (approximately a mile away) for pedestrians and cyclists. It will also free up the current Town Centre canal basin to provide water frontage for bars, cafes and restaurants and there will be potential for leisure boat trips along this spur of the canal network.
