Work will shortly commence on the Berryfields major development area (MDA) with the granting of outline planning permission for 3,000 new homes on the site. Initial work will focus on improving access to the site and installing infrastucture such as roads, drainage and essential services. Work on the housing scheme will commence later in 2008. Berryfields is situated on the north-west outskirts of the town and spans some 185 hectacres either side of the A41.

Berryfields is one of two major development areas (MDAs) planned for Aylesbury Vale, the other being Weedon Hill to the east of it.

The overall development has been the subject of close negotiations between AVDC, key stakeholders and the principal developers to ensure the creation of a balanced and sustainable community and great emphasis has been placed on the quality and mix of housing types, provision of services, facilities, transport links, green spaces, play & recreation areas, biodiversity and environmental sustainability. This responsible approach led to the establishment of a developers’ consortium to ensure that Berryfields meets the requirements laid out in Aylesbury Vale District Council’s development strategy for the area and is composed of the following organisations:
