Aylesbury College - Building Better Futures

Aylesbury College’s clear vision of “Building Better Futures” is an ethos driving their mission of inspiring, achieving excellence and developing skills for the future of Aylesbury and the Vale’s community.

A passion for Learning and Training

Demonstrating a passion for learning through an innovative range of courses, Aylesbury College is leading the way locally and regionally, reaching beyond further education and with stakeholder partnership, venturing into foundation degrees. The core USPs for Aylesbury College are: Beauty Therapy and Hairdressing, Hospitality and Catering, Construction and Engineering, and, Sport and Leisure; however, a licensed restaurant and other ‘open to the public’ facilities make the College a destination for the community and not just a learning arena.

A commitment to up-skilling and development through cutting-edge facilities

Critical to Aylesbury College’s high-end aspirations, is a real commitment to up-skilling and engagement with students of all ages and the business community. Aylesbury College is embracing a culture of lifelong learning, achieving and exceeding potential. Cutting edge and 21st century facilities are starting to be realised with the recent opening of a new College building (phase one). This architecturally impressive iconic building houses a learning resource centre, reception and administration, cafe, and meeting rooms.

Phase two due to be completed in autumn 2007, will provide a new ‘construction, engineering and horticulture/floristry’ centre. The exceptional facilities (currently and forthcoming) are already having a tremendous effect on the learning experience and student ambience. In addition, the provision of 392 car parking spaces from September 2007 will be an added advantage. Phase three and four are proposed.

Aylesbury Vale University Centre

The goal of providing students with a path to achieving success through learning and development has been also been realised through the creation of an alliance between Aylesbury College, ATG, Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, University of Buckingham, University of Bedfordshire, Oxford Brookes University and The Open University. The formation of Aylesbury Vale University Centre (AVUC) will provide a new raft of accredited foundation degree courses from September 2007, with AVUC’s pioneering initiative seeking to deliver higher level courses delivered with the added dimension of other training providers. The new Centre is based locally in an attractive suite of specially designed and well equipped rooms within the new campus of Aylesbury College.

AVUC is supported by Aylesbury Vale Advantage, Aylesbury Vale District Council, Aim Higher, and Learning and Skills Council.

What’s in it for Business?

Aylesbury College’s offer to businesses and employers locally and regionally is the provision of courses tailored to up-skilling and developing the workforce, to maximise profitability and productivity. ‘Apprenticeships’ and ‘Train to Gain’ programmes provide vital training with an understanding of ‘learning whilst earning’. The additional wider range of part time and vocational courses, continue to assist in creating and supporting a learning culture – the very basis for the future of Aylesbury and the Vale. All sectors are catered for at Aylesbury College. The College is currently and will continue to engage with business to maintain a critical understanding of demands, pressures and changes in business both locally and regionally.

Identification to the changing Aylesbury and the Vale

Aylesbury College’s mission, vision and values identify with the changing socio – economic footprint of Aylesbury and the Vale.
