Aylesbury’s New Theatre – a virtual insight

AylesburyTheatreA virtual 3 dimensional tour of Aylesbury’s new theatre complex is now featured on AVDC website offering local residents a realistic insight into the scope of the multi-million pound entertainment centre.
The animated web-cast takes visitors on a ‘virtual journey’ moving from the spacious main lobby through to the main auditorium, function suite, bars and other public areas.

The new theatre is to be developed on Exchange Street, (on the site currently used as the temporary Bearbrook car park). First stage building work will commence from mid April 2007 and construction work is scheduled to take just over two years - the theatre completing in late autumn 2009.
The initial entertainment programme is likely to commence from spring 2010 and it is anticipated that the entertainment complex will eventually host over 300,000 visitors each year.

AylesburyTheatreThe theatre, which forms a key feature of the new Waterside development, will feature a 1220 seat main auditorium with a standing capacity of 1800, almost twice the size of the current Civic Centre. The acoustic performance of the auditorium has been designed to provide the ideal conditions for both classical and contemporary music performance.

A second function space, suitable for smaller drama productions, workshops and community use, will seat up to 240. The centre will also include three bars, four meeting rooms, six dressing rooms as well as full kitchen facilities to support banquets and conferences.
