Environmental Cluster could make a difference to Aylesbury

The Environment Business Sector contributes significantly to the economic prosperity and to sustainability in economic growth within The Vale of Aylesbury.  The Environmental Business Sector comprises international companies and local companies with international markets. Together the products and services produced represent all twelve sub-sectors as defined by the Government’s Joint Environmental Markets Unit.  According to research conducted by The Department of Trade and Industry The Environmental Sector in the UK is set to experience significant economic growth within over the next decade.

Aylesbury Vale Advantage (AVA) and Aylesbury Vale District Council are working together to promote the value of The Vale’s Environmental Business sector to Regional and National Development and Environment Agencies.  Their intent is to capture interest and supporting inward investment opportunities to attract other ‘environmental technology’ companies to relocate to Aylesbury Vale.

A special reception will take place on Tuesday 7th February 2006 for local businesses who operate within the Environmental business sector.  Representatives from national and regional support agencies will be present.  The aim is to establish an Environmental Cluster (companies working with other companies sharing similar markets and aspirations).  Examples of such cluster activity by businesses in other parts of the UK has generated increased business turnover and opportunities for investment in research and development.

Six local companies have already expressed an interest in assisting in the formation of the Cluster; a preliminary meeting having been hosted by Kee Process Ltd.’s Group Managing Director Mr. Suru Nathwani.  Kee Process Ltd. are experts in Domestic and Industrial Wastewater Treatment.

The reception will host some twenty plus business representatives who will listen to a speech from Dr. Philip Longhurst of Cranfield University’s School of Integrated Waste Management.

Any business whose products or services either protect or enhance the environment and who are interested in attending this free event should contact Kathy Russell at AVA on 01296 585896 or e-mail kathy.russell@aylesburyvaleadvantage.co.uk
