Aylesbury Vale Advantage (AVA) has recently appointed two key members to assist in the delivery of the economic and residential growth within Aylesbury Vale. Liz Thomas joined AVA in January 2006 as Project and Development Manager and Kathy Russell joined in September 2005 as Project and Development Officer. Their roles involve them working with AVDC colleagues to deliver the Government’s Growth Agenda with particular focus on the Environmental, Housing, Health and Education sectors.
AVA is charged with creating a vision for the future development of The Vale and Aylesbury Town and to facilitate the formation of a structured and sustainable framework. It works with its partners to develop initiatives to promote the The Vale of Aylesbury as a great place to live and work. It seeks to achieve this by bringing together private enterprise and public agencies, to support this dynamic initiative and to help shape the core strategies and plans. Its Board members are from local commerce, the South East of England Development Agency, English Partnerships, representatives from County and Local Authorities and community interests.
Kathy Russell enjoys working with her colleagues from other organizations, who collectively, share a positive outlook. “I enjoy working with the health, education
and the environment departments in assisting them to play a supportive role within the economic development vision within The Vale as part of the sustainable development of our community now and in the future”. Liz Thomas agrees, “We need to ensure that the communities have all the right ingredients to be successful and sustainable”. With both members having a strong interest in regeneration, AVA is certain to continue to be the place to grow.
