Aylesbury Vale Advantage’s (AVA) Housing Delivery Team comprises colleagues from AVA, Aylesbury Vale District Council, Buckinghamshire County Council, the Homes and Community Agency and the Government Office for the South East.
The Housing Delivery Team’s key responsibility is managing and monitoring the delivery of housing in Aylesbury Vale mapping it against the annual build target and the longer term requirements in terms of housing delivery.
Regular monitoring of development sites is carried out in order to compile The Housing Trajectory. Through regular monitoring it is possible to identify and seek measures to resolve potential blockages in order to keep housing delivery on track. The monitoring also helps to identify current and future projected trends in housing and also assists with the planning and implementation of infrastructure to support the growth within Aylesbury.
The South East plan identifies Aylesbury Vale as a major growth area and has set a target of 26,890 to be delivered between 2006 and 2026. The Local Development Framework (LDF), sets out the Council’s proposals as to how this will be achieved. The majority of these dwellings (16,800) will be delivered at Aylesbury with 4,700 distributed within the rest of the district and 5,390 in the North East of Aylesbury Vale.
There is a lack of affordable housing within Aylesbury Vale and the LDF seeks that 35% of the new dwellings will be affordable.
Achieving a range of tenures is vital to the successful delivery of sustainable communities and The Housing Delivery Team takes a pro-active role to maximise the delivery of affordable housing. Monitoring and managing the supply of affordable housing takes place as part of the updating and monitoring of data which feeds into The Housing Trajectory
In addition to focusing on the supply of housing, the issue of quality is important and there are established links with The Building Research Establishment (BRE) to ensure that quality standards are achieved in line with the Government’s policy on climate change and sustainable construction.
