Employment Information

34.2% of the workforce in Aylesbury Vale have an NVQ level of 4 or above, a standard that compares with 25% across the UK as a whole. However, we recognise that the planned growth in population, the change in employment patterns and the extension to the retirement legislation requires pro-active targeting of educational and skill acquisition to facilitate the workforce of tomorrow.

Partnership working between Bucks Economic and Learning Partnership BELP & Aylesbury Vale District Council AVDC and the four educational establishments of the area – Aylesbury College, Buckinghamshire New University, University of Buckingham (please insert a link to www.buckingham.ac.uk) and the University Centre for Aylesbury Vale is happening with the goal of delivering the workforce of tomorrow for existing and incoming businesses to Aylesbury and The Vale.

Our skilled workforce reflects our successful sectors of industry and commerce; advanced manufacturing work which supports the Silverstone / automotive sector, creative media, healthcare technologies / telecare and a range of ICT based companies.

Aylesbury Vale is building on its successful record of entrepreneurship with the intention to build the National Enterprise Academy (NEA) in Aylesbury in 2012 /13.  The NEA will enhance the current support for new ‘start up’ enterprises which is already a success story as evidenced by the high level of VAT registered businesses in Aylesbury and The Vale when compared to the south east as a whole.
