“AVA and its partners are committed to creating a thriving day and night time economy and culture in Aylesbury town centre as part of the delivery of growth in population planned for the next 20 years.
Visitors, residents and businesses in the Vale will be aware of the scale of change which has happened this year. They may have some negative memories of the images of cranes on
the skyline, the sound of drilling on the roads and demolition of buildings but now they see and experience new, fresh and well designed apartment accommodation, new quieter road surfaces, new road crossings, an increase in the number and frequency of bus services and the continuing development of the new (regional size) theatre on Exchange Street. These are but the beginnings of the regeneration of Aylesbury town. Improvements in the range and scale of the retail offer are scheduled to be delivered in 2009/10.
Change is also happening in The Vale though on a smaller scale. Buckingham and Haddenham have seen development by way of provision of employment properties. Aylesbury Vale also has a high number of newly created VAT registered businesses which help to secure the future viability of farmers as they attribute new uses to existing farm buildings. The business sector is recognising the advantages of locating in Aylesbury Vale and we intend to bring that success to Aylesbury too.”
