Planning is about how the local authority (Aylesbury Vale District Council – AVDC) plan for, and make decisions about, the future of our towns and countryside in The Vale. Planning has a long history, even thousands of years ago people will have discussed where to build homes and shelters!
A Local Development Framework (LDF) is produced by each local planning authority. AVDC’s LDF sets out how Aylesbury Vale may change during the period to 2026. This overall plan for the future growth of Aylesbury & Aylesbury Vale is being developed through public consultation and partnership working. This process is, in turn, is guided by Central Government, Regional and local planning policies and procedures.
“Aylesbury Vale District Council and its partners are committed to creating a vibrant Aylesbury Vale – a sustainable, safe, active and healthy community where everyone cares about the quality of the local environment, and where everyone feels able to make a contribution.”
- Extract from Foreword (page 3) of AVDC ‘The Proposed Submission – Core Strategy (LDF)’; June 2009
The core strategy is the central document within the Local Development Framework (LDF) which sets out the overall spatial strategy for development in the district and allocates strategic sites in the district. All other or subsequent development plan documents must agree with it.
Public consultation on the core strategy was completed on the 22 July 2009. AVDC will review all these comments with the aim to submit the plan to the National Inspectorate of Planning in autumn 2009.
The Aylesbury Vale LDF will eventually replace the Aylesbury Vale District Local Plan, adopted in 2004 and which guides development to 2011. The LDF will comprise a ‘folder’ of linked documents, called Local Development Documents (LDDs) which can be regularly updated.
